I don't want to manually disable tab discarding because I do see-and use-the value of the feature, but only when it's necessary for memory recovery, not on a ticker or as a routine cleanup effort. Just recently, however, it started discarding tabs very rapidly-sometimes within minutes, and often with lightweight tabs. Usually it was pretty good about only discarding tabs which were very old or which were idle and memory intensive. This is a good thing, because I inherently dislike automatic tab discarding except instances where it's necessary to dump some memory to keep my browser running smoothly. Still, I tended not to use too much memory most of the time, and the browser would rarely "need" to discard tabs. ![]() ![]() I use the chrome://discards dashboard to disable automatic discarding for certain tabs, but keep automatic discarding active for most unimportant tabs to preserve memory.
